Willie Neil Ashley, 101 South Park Avenue, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia. He was 78. The funeral was held Saturday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home with Dr. Greg McFadden, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Lewis County Memorial Gardens. Mr. Ashley was born June 11, 1924 in Bells, was the son of the late Aaron and Frances Chapman Ashley. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a retired pawn shop owner. Survivors include 5 sons, Bobby Neil Ashley of West Memphis, Arkansas, Rodney Ashley of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Timothy Sherman Ashley of Hohenwald, Jonathan Andrew Ashley of Brownsville, and William Todd Ashley of Mt. Pleasant; 4 daughters, Dixie Elaine Ashley of Memphis, Dixie Helen Malcolm of Fairfax, Oklahoma, Deborah W Jameson-Lu of Elkhart, Indiana, and Mary Rachel Walker of Hohenwald; a half-brother, Anthony Ashley of Mississippi; a sister, Carolyn Mott of Memphis; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Priscilla Colleen Runions and a brother, A G Ashley.
