Potts, Jerry Lee
Jerry Lee Potts, age 70, a resident of Hohenwald, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 12 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with David Grimes officiating. Burial followed in West Point Cumberland Cemetery.
Jerry was born on March 17, 1950 and was the son of Vance Potts and the late Dorothy Barnes Potts. He served in the National Guard and married Vickie Wilson on July 27, 1996. He retired from AT&T and was currently working at Carroll Surveying in Hohenwald. He was a member of Dwelling Place Church in Hohenwald. Jerry was a 7th Degree Black Belt in Karate and impacted hundreds of adults and children through his karate ministry, “Just For Kicks.” During that time, he competed in the Wado-Ryu International Tournament in Japan in 1988. He was an avid Tennessee Vols and Atlanta Braves fan and previously coached the Edwards Oil and Columbia American League baseball team.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Hayden Potts of Columbia, Brent (Kristin) Potts of Murfreesboro, and Joe (Dana) Woodard of Columbia; daughters, Jessica (Jonathan) Hickerson of Columbia, Jenny Potts of Murfreesboro, Jamie Burns of Hohenwald, and Lauren (Neylan) Barber of Hohenwald; and eleven grandchildren, Alison Moore, Trent Burns, Jaelyn Hickerson, Austin Barber, Hailee Burns, Jax Hickerson, Gavyn Barber, Graci Woodard, Skylar Woodard, Griffin Barber and Josie Woodard.
