Tanner, Terry Allen
Terry Allen Tanner was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on May 2, 1958, and passed away in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on June 11, 2019. He was 62 years old. He is the son of the late Austin and Melba Halbrooks Tanner.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings, James R, Shelva Jean, Barbara Anne, Gary, and David.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gwen Rose Cogdill Tanner. The two were high school sweethearts. He also leaves behind his children, Jamie Roxanne Tanner Eckert of Murfreesboro, Alan Dale Tanner of Pleasantville, Kyle Austin Tanner of Columbia and Brittnie Nicole Tanner of Pleasantville. Grandchildren, Derek Steve Qualls, Hunter Nathan Qualls, Austin Tanner, McKinley Tanner, Ivy Tanner, and Raelyn Tanner. ,He had 1 great grandchild on the way., He also leaves behind many other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
Mr. Tanner, before retiring, owned and operated “APPCo”, which stood for American Professional Painting Company. He spent all of his working life in the painting business. He spent all of his working life in the painting business. He loved many things in life. He was a collector. He liked arrowheads, pocket knives, and old coins. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He shared that passion with his children as they grew up. He especially loved catfishing. Terry also loved his cars. His biggest regret in life was selling his red 1967 Chevelle. He loved that car. He also had a race car at one time and raced in Hohenwald and Summertown. The car’s number was 007, paying tribute to one of his favorites James Bond. Terry loved his family most of all. He will be remembered as a good-hearted man, and a hero to his children. He tried to help them and others any way that he could. He enjoyed spending time with them, poking fun at them and having a good time. He even made up games, and only he knew the rules. He was a good daddy, stubborn, and a fighter, right up to his passing. Mr. Tanner was baptized on the day that he died. Knowing this brings great comfort to his family.
Visitation with the family will be held on 15 June 2019, from 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM at McDonald Funeral Home – Hickman County. Graveside Services will be held on 15 June 2019, at 2:00 PM at Beech Grove Cemetery. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery, Pleasantville, TN.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
