\nI have copies of the Civil War records for W. A. NEWTON and J. H. NEWTON which show that both of the NEWTONS joined Capt. Woodward’s Company, Tennessee Cavalry, on August 25, 1861, and were sent to Camp Trousdale, Tn. The only information I have found on this group, also known as “The Oak Grove Rangers”, states it was divided into “A” and “B” Companies, 1st (Helm’s) Kentucky Cavalry Regiment and was disbanded on June 25, 1862. Does anyone have information on this group, such as what organizations some of the men may have re-enlisted in? Also, were men recruited from Lawrence County?
