Mr. SMITH, 59, died at 10:20 p. m. Friday in Lauderdale County Hospital, which he entered the preceeding day. He was born in Bee Branch, AR and had lived in this county 25 years. He was a member of Woodville Baptist Church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Alice Leona LOVELL SMITH; two sons, Jesse L. SMITH, of Hayti, MO, and William Farris SMITH of Ripley; two daughters, Miss Rebecca Ann Smith, of the home, and Mrs. Dessie CROCKETT, of Steele, MO; three brothers, Charlie SMITH, of Ripley, James SMITH, of Plainwell, Michigan, and Mannie SMITH, of Brownsville; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie BUTNER, of Ripley; and five grandchildren.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FRIDAY DECEMBER 8, 1958 Services for Joe SMITH, a farmer of the Hurricane Hill community, were held Sunday at Garner&#8217;s Funeral Home, burial in Woodville Cemetery.
