Most deeds record the measurements of the property which we have rarely included, opting to record only the acreage. We have, however, included all the names included in the deed\u2014sellers, buyers, previous owners, adjoining property holders, witnesses to the deed, etc.\u2014but rarely the official, either local or distant, before whom the deed was proved.<\/p>\n<p>Several terms occur often; we have abbreviated some of them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SD = Surveyor District.\n<ul>\n<li>The southern part of Lauderdale County\u2014the part that was originally Tipton County &#8211; is in the 11th Surveyor District<\/li>\n<li>The part that was Dyer County is in the 13th Surveyor District<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>r(4)s(10) = range and section<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Acknowledged&#8221; and &#8220;Proved&#8221; =\n<ul>\n<li>When &#8220;acknowledged &#8221; (or &#8220;ack &#8220;) is used, the grantor (seller) appeared before the court or some appointed official to acknowledge the deed as valid<\/li>\n<li>When &#8220;proved&#8221; is used, one or more of the witnesses to the deed appeared before the officials to attest to the validity of the signature<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Exr. = Executor<\/li>\n<li>P\/A = Power of Attorney<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All counties mentioned are in Tennessee unless otherwise noted.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deed Book A Lauderdale County, Tennessee This abstract of Deed Book A is not intended as a substitute for the original work, but rather to suggest to the researcher which records might contain information pertinent to his quest.
