Edmund C. Wright<\/strong>, a farmer of Lauderdale County, was born in Caroline County,
\nVa., June 29, 1829, and is the sixth child of a family of six sons and six
\ndaughters, born to Edmund and Elizabeth Wright, and is of English descent. His
\nfather was born in Caroline County, Va., and came to Tennessee in 1837, and
\nafter spending a year in Haywood County, moved to Lauderdale, where he settled
\ntwo miles southeast of where our subject now lives, and died May 6, 1880.
\nOur subject’s mother was born in Virginia, and died in Lauderdale County,
\nSeptember 4, 1859. Mr. Wright was raised on the farm, and after completing
\nhis education, made farming his business. He served a short time in the
\nConfederate Army, and was in the battle at Somerville, in West Tennessee. Mr.
\nWright was married in the house where he now lives, February 20, 1875, to Mrs.
\nSarah E. Wright, a daughter of Squire W. B. Sawyer; no children have resulted
\nfrom this union. Mrs. Wright was born in Pasquotank County, N. C., August 2,
\n1838, and is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Mr. Wright is
\na Democrat, and a man of liberal ideas on all questions; he owns 707 acres of
\nland — 121 are in the home place, that is situated between Hall’s Station and
\nDouble Bridges — and raises chiefly cotton. He owns a pleasant residence and
\nstands well in the community he lives in.<\/p>\n
