Everett R. Sumerow<\/strong>, one of the enterprising farmers of the Eighth District of
\nLauderdale County, was born at the present homestead November 2, 1854, and is
\nthe oldest of four sons and four daughters, six of them now living. The
\nfather, who was a merchant, was married twice, the first time to Ellen Smith,
\nand by this marriage had two children, our subject being one of them. After
\nthe death of Mrs. Sumerow he married Missouri Jackson, by whom he had six
\nchildren. The father was born in Middle Tennessee, and moved with his parents
\nto West Tennessee when a boy. They located near Double Bridges, where he was
\nraised and married, and then moved to Missouri, near New Madrid, where his
\nwife died August 15, 1865, but, by her own request, she was buried in her
\nnative State, at the present homestead, and our subject’s father was buried by
\nher September 9, 1884. Everett Sumerow was raised on the farm, received a
\ngood education, and has made farming his business. He owns 100 acres of fine
\nfarming land, giving his chief attention to stock raising. He is a member of
\nthe Methodist Episcopal Church South, and in politics a Democrat, casting his
\nfirst presidential vote for Tilden. Mr. Sumerow resides at the old homestead,
\nwhich is pleasantly located with a comfortable dwelling on it. He is most
\nhighly esteemed by those who know him.<\/p>\n
