Sumerow<\/strong>, one of the enterprising farmers of the Eighth District of<br \/>\nLauderdale County, was born at the present homestead November 2, 1854, and is<br \/>\nthe oldest of four sons and four daughters, six of them now living. The<br \/>\nfather, who was a merchant, was married twice, the first time to Ellen Smith,<br \/>\nand by this marriage had two children, our subject being one of them. After<br \/>\nthe death of Mrs. Sumerow he married Missouri Jackson, by whom he had six<br \/>\nchildren. The father was born in Middle Tennessee, and moved with his parents<br \/>\nto West Tennessee when a boy. They located near Double Bridges, where he was<br \/>\nraised and married, and then moved to Missouri, near New Madrid, where his<br \/>\nwife died August 15, 1865, but, by her own request, she was buried in her<br \/>\nnative State, at the present homestead, and our subject&#8217;s father was buried by<br \/>\nher September 9, 1884. Everett Sumerow was raised on the farm, received a<br \/>\ngood education, and has made farming his business. He owns 100 acres of fine<br \/>\nfarming land, giving his chief attention to stock raising. He is a member of<br \/>\nthe Methodist Episcopal Church South, and in politics a Democrat, casting his<br \/>\nfirst presidential vote for Tilden. Mr. Sumerow resides at the old homestead,<br \/>\nwhich is pleasantly located with a comfortable dwelling on it.
