C. His parents were Joseph and Mary<br \/>\n(Jennings) Price. His father was a native and farmer of South Carolina, where<br \/>\nhe died; also his mother. Our subject is of English descent, and was raised<br \/>\non a farm until twenty-five years of age, when he commenced farming for<br \/>\nhimself, continuing until the war, when he went into the Confederate service,<br \/>\njoining an artillery company of Georgia, remaining in that company for two<br \/>\nyears. He was then with the Sixty-third Georgia Regiment, and was transferred<br \/>\nfrom that to the Twenty-fourth South Carolina Infantry, where he stayed until<br \/>\nthe surrender at Greensboro, N. C. Soon after this he came to Lauderdale<br \/>\nCounty, and located in the Fourth District, and engaged in cotton planting,<br \/>\nwhich he has most successfully continued ever since. He is now worth about<br \/>\n$15,000, which he has made himself by his energy and economy. He was first<br \/>\nmarried to Carrie Mosely, of Lincoln County, Ga., in December, 1856. They had<br \/>\none child &#8212; Gussie May. Mrs. Price died in 1872, and in May, 1874, he<br \/>\nmarried Emma Samuels. One son, Frank, was also born to this marriage, and<br \/>\nthis wife died, in 1878, and he was married to his present wife, L. L.<br \/>\nLankford, July 9, 1879, and by this last union has had three children: Anna,<br \/>\nRobert and Cora. Mr. Price is a man of good social standing and a member of<br \/>\nthe K. of H., and politically votes with the Democratic party.
