(Camburn) Hurt, and<br \/>\nis of Irish descent. His father was born in Maury County, Tenn., where he was<br \/>\nraised and educated. He then went to Graves County, Ky., where he married and<br \/>\nlived for a short time before moving to Paducah, Ky., where he lived until<br \/>\n1856; then moved to Boonville, Mo., and a few years later came to Lauderdale<br \/>\nCounty, where he is still living, three miles from Hall&#8217;s Station. Our<br \/>\nsubject&#8217;s mother was born in Graves County, Ky., in 1812, and is still living.<br \/>\nGeorge W. Hurt was raised and educated in Paducah, Ky., and has always been a<br \/>\nfarmer and a carpenter. He has been married three times. The first time, in<br \/>\nMcCracken County, Ky., to Virginia Potter, a daughter of Squire James Potter,<br \/>\na prominent farmer. She was born in that county in 1848. One daughter,<br \/>\nVirginia, was born to this marriage. Mrs. Hurt died in November, 1865, and<br \/>\nDecember 17, 1866, he married in Lauderdale County, Miss Cornelia E. Jordan, a<br \/>\ndaughter of Dr. Thomas Jordan, a popular physician of Williamson County, Tenn.<br \/>\nTwo sons and two daughters were born to this marriage: Mattie Y., Thomas<br \/>\nLeonidas, Mary Florence and William Edmondson. Mrs. Hurt, their mother, was<br \/>\nborn in Henderson County, Tenn., in 1844, and died in 1876. Mr. Hurt was<br \/>\nmarried again December, 1878, to Miss Addie Wright, a daughter of John Wright,<br \/>\na prominent farmer. One son and three daughters were the result of this union;<br \/>\ntwo of the latter were twins and died when four months old, within fifteen<br \/>\nminutes of each other. These children were named Myrtle and Beulah, Floyd C.<br \/>\nand Bernice. This wife was born in Lauderdale County, Tenn., in 1857, and is<br \/>\na member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Mr. Hurt is a Missionary<br \/>\nBaptist, and a Democrat.
