Campbell<\/strong>, a prominent citizen and farmer of the Eleventh District of<br \/>\nLauderdale County, was born July 18, 1821, in Caroline County, Va., and is a<br \/>\nson of William and Susan (Burruss) Campbell, who were both born in Virginia,<br \/>\nthe father in 1775, and died in 1833, and the mother died in 1823. Mr.<br \/>\nCampbell is of Scotch descent. He was educated at Hallowell College at<br \/>\nAlexander, Va., graduating in 1843, and immediately after took charge of<br \/>\nRappahannock Academy, in Caroline County, teaching this school a year and a<br \/>\nhalf, then taught a private school at his residence for fifteen years, the<br \/>\nplace being called White Hall. In 1864 he moved to Georgia, and took charge of<br \/>\nthe female institute at Albany, Ga. In 1868 he moved to Ripley, Tenn., and<br \/>\nfirst took charge of the male school, and then the female institute, which he<br \/>\nheld for four years. At the expiration of this time he moved to his farm in<br \/>\nLauderdale County, and has since given all of his time to farming. December 8,<br \/>\n1844, he married Julia A. B. White, daughter of James I. And Elizabeth White.<br \/>\nShe was born February 22, 1823. Seven children were born to this marriage &#8212;<br \/>\nfive sons and two daughters. Mr. Campbell is a member of the Missionary<br \/>\nBaptist Church, and a Democrat.
