A PEEP INTO THE PAST; JULY 26,1907–Mrs. J.R. RUSH died Monday at her home in the Hurricane Hill community. She was a most estimable Christian lady and is survived by her husband and five children. In the death of Mrs. Sarah S. CARSON, wife of Mr. S.B. CARSON, which occurred at her home in Ripley July 20th,1907, another name has been stricken from the ever-lessening roll of our older settlers, and the aged husband, who had shared her companionship for 40 years and two sons and three daughters are left to attest how sadly they will miss her. Funeral services conducted by Rev. LONG, were held at the family residence Sunday afternoon at 4:30, and the remains were laid to rest in Maplewood Cemetery. Mrs, Mary Fletcher WALKER, wife of Mr. Benjamin D. WALKER, died at her home in Ripley July 20th, and her remains were laid to rest in St. Paul’s cemetery near her old home in Durhamville, Sunday afternoon at 5 o’ clock. Deceased moved with her parents from South Carolina to Tennessee in 1847.She was a daughter of Wm. A. & Harriet MOORER. She was married May 12th,1858 and to this union six children were born, four of whom survive: Mrs. C.M. ANTHONY, Mrs. Robert G. ANTHONY, Henry L. WALKER and Miss Kate WALKER.
