MAYNARD, Mary J.
THE LAUDERDALE COUNTY ENTERPRISE, FRIDAY JANUARY 15, 1932
DEATH–On Thursday afternoon, December 31, as the old year was dying, the beautiful spirit of Mrs. Mary J. MAYNARD took its flight to the Great Beyond. She lived only a few hours after she had been stricken with apoplexy, but how her children and loved ones watched her, hoping that she might regain consciousness and be able to speak again, but the Lord said, “Come home”. It was in the Arp community that she spent her life. She was born September 7, 1846, near Ripley and on July 14, 1864, was married to Paschel T. MAYNARD. To this union was born six children. Only two survive, a daughter, Annie, and a son, Gran. She professed faith in Christ at an early age and never failed to attend church as long as her health permitted it. She was left a widow when quite young. Funeral services were conducted at her home by her pastor, Rev. W. O. LINDSEY in a very touching and appropriate manner in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends and her body was laid to rest New Year’s Day in the Hogsett Cemetery, which has been used by her family for years.
