Lucy Jane Maxwell
Lucy Jane Maxwell was born in August 1863 in Haywood County,TN, she died
in August 1945 in the home of her daughter, Mattie Fitzgerald,in
Lauderdale County, TN. She is buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at
Arp, Lauderdale County. She was the daughter of Frank M. Maxwell and Susan
Farres of Haywood County, TN. She married first J. Wm. Hester. Mr. Hester died
in 1889. Lucy remarried in 1894 to Wm. Henry Smith. Mr.Smith died in
1904. Lucy then moved to Lauderdale County, TN where she raised her
family. This is a picture of Lucy Smith with her children: James Allen
Smith, born 1895; Frank Smith, born 1897; Mattie Mae Smith, born 1899 and
Richard Owen Smith, born 1903. She with her children lived in Lauderdale
County, where the children grew up, married and raised families. Three of the Hester children were in
Lauderdale County; Mallie, Austin and Lelar Hester, they married and had
familes here also.
The fourth child, Willie Hester left home at age 15 years and was never heard
from by the family again.
