Mary Lucille Sheckell, 82, of Ripley, Tenn., formerly of Pemiscot County, Mo., died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Lauderdale in Ripley. Born May 11, 1923, in Marmaduke, Ark., daughter of the late William and Alie Mae Roark Pickens, she was a homemaker. She married Clyde R. "Buddy" Sheckell Jr., who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by five daughters, Betty Brewer, Barbara Hardee, Judy Watkins, Vernetta Sheckell and Wanda Cheramie and two sons, Bill and Kenneth Sheckell. Survivors include four daughters, Glenda Manuel, of Memphis, Tenn., and Claudette Moody, Synthia Gibson and Vickie Eastep, all of Ripley; one son, Paul Sheckell, of Hayti, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Robert Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti. Pallbearers were Ronnie Pickens, Jerald Pickens, Ronnie Moore, Dale Hall, Ashley Arwood and Jeff Thomas. John W. German Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. |
