Services will be at 2 p.m. today Garner Funeral Home in Ripley with burial in Lightfoot Cemetery near Ripley. She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church near Ripley. Mrs. Akins, the wife of John Akins, also leaves two daughters, Mary Place of Lindsay, Okla., and Mary Helton of Henning; seven sons, Raymond Anderson and Edward Anderson, both of Henning; Michael Shane Akins of San Diego, John Akins Jr. and Terry Lynn Akins, both of Halls, James Akins of Suffolk, England, and Barry Joseph Akins of Ripley; five sisters, Patricia Turner of Memphis, Janie Hemby and Bonnie Wallin, both of Henning, Faye Witt of Naples, Fla., and Lillian Sylvester of Ripley; a brother, Calvin Cooper of Henning; her mother, Mary Sue Cooper of Henning, and 14 grandchildren.

William "Bill" Sanford Baker - The remains of Mr. Bill Baker, who died at the home of his sister, Mrs. J. H. Coughlan, of Friendship, were brought to Ripley Tuesday night and laid to rest in the Cemetery at Lightfoot, Wednesday morning. He was 41 years of age. He was taken ill with typhoid fever about two weeks ago at the home of another sister, Mrs. Tobe MINNER and at his request was carried to Friendship, as his home had been with the Coughlin's for many years during the time they resided at Lightfoot and Ripley. Mr. Coughlan and family accompanied the remains to Lightfoot.

Mrs. Hattie Mae Nelson Barnes, 86, widow of Robert E. Barnes, Lightfoot farmer, died about 9:30 a.m. in Lauderdale County Hospital, which she had entered three weeks earlier. Services were Tuesday in Ripley Funeral Home, burial in Lightfoot Cemetery. Born at Campground, she was a lifelong residence of Lauderdale County and a member of Lightfoot Methodist Church. She leaves three sons; Thomas E. Barnes and Reid Barnes of Ripley and William K. Barnes, of San Bernardino, Calif., a brother, T. L. Nelson and a sister, Mrs. Laura Osteen, both of Ripley.

The sudden death of Dr. S. M. Glenn in his office over City Drug Co., Monday morning about 8 o'clock came as a great surprise to his numerous friends and relatives. Seized with a severe heart attack, he expired before medical aid could reach him. The body was removed to the residence of his sister, Mrs. W. H. Foust and on Tuesday morning was carried to his old home at Lightfoot and laid to rest beside the remains of his wife who preceded him in death many years. Aubrey L. Griggs, who lived near Ashport, died at the Ripley hospital Monday and his remains were laid to rest in the Lightfoot Cemetery Wednesday. His death followed an operation for appendicitis which, it is said, was delayed too long. He was 28 years of age and is survived by his wife, who was Miss Mattie Blanche Pitts, and three children.
