John Thomas McMurry, 66, retired from South Central Bell, died Sunday of cancer at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Lauderdale in Ripley. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Halls Funeral Home with burial in Greenhill Memorial Gardens near here. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Palestine Methodist Church.

Mr. McMurry, the husband of Shirlon Terry McMurry, also leaves six daughters, Vickie Ellis and Laurie Duff, both of Jackson, Lisa Davis of Halls, Diana Robertson of Friendshi p, and Vickie White and Jeannie Hunter, both of Dyersburg; a son, Ronnie Godwin of Dyersburg; his mother, Ethel Riley McMurry, and a sister, June Lesh, both of Jackson, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
