Fallen Asleep- Only asleep in the arms of the Master is Mrs. I. E. Lassiter, whose beautiful life passed away at her home in Ripley Friday night May 26 at 11 o'clock after one week illness. From the beginning of her illness it was realized that her condition was very serious and all the skilled physicians, nurses and loving friends could do was done in an effort to save the life of this dear woman. But not so, it was time for her to go home and she answered call Come Higher.

Sad indeed was this death - a young mother living three small children, one an infant only a few days old. Mrs. Lassiter before her marriage was Miss Kathleen Blackwell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Blackwell of Durhamville. She united with the M.E. Church at an early age and although family cares did not permit her to engage actively in church work, still her life was lived in accord with the Master's teaching. During her brief illness her suffering was intense, but she did not murmur one complaint. Funeral services were conducted in the home Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. Clauth Brooks and Rev. L.O. Leavel in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives. Interment was in Elam Cemetery at Durhamville, her childhood home and beside the grave of a dear sister who preceded her a number of years ago. Today she is sleeping beneath a wealth of lovely flowers which seem to say, 'Folded away with lavender, among priceless treasures we keep, not dead, but gently in the arms of her savior.
