Harvey D. Halliburton, 67, of Elyria died Sunday at EMH Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Born in Ripley, Tenn., he had lived in Elyria for 43 years, moving from Halls, Tenn.

Mr. Halliburton served in the Marines from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War and he received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.

He retired in 1995 after working in the maintenance department at Lorain County Community College. He also worked for 16 years at the Tappan Air Conditioning Company in Elyria.

Mr. Halliburton and his wife were co-owners of the West Avenue Dry Cleaners, an agent for Jack Knights Cleaners in Elyria.

He was a member of the Original Glorious Apostolic Church in Elyria and the Church's missionary Choir. He served in the church's missionary department and was a church bus driver for many years.

Mr. Halliburton was a member of the Elyria branch of the NAACP.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jean (nee Jones); daughter, M. Rena Halliburton-Chaney of Columbus and Betty J. Halliburton of Elyria; sons, Harvey Jr. and Bruce L., both of Columbus; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Mary Beard of Ripley, Tenn.; sister, Linda Jackson of Peoria, Ill.; brother; Larry Jones of Halls, Tenn.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, David.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Original Glorious Apostolic Church, 995 Foster Ave., Elyria, where services will be at noon on Friday.

Evangelist Doris Williams, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.

The Carter Funeral Home, 127 W. Bridge St., Elyria, is in charge of arrangements.
