23 Mar 1928 – Knob Creek – The death angel visited the home of Mr. W. E. Crews Saturday and bore away the spirit of his wife, Mrs. Sophia Elizabeth Crews. She was born Oct. 17, 1878. She professed faith in Christ at the age of 16 and joined the Mascedonia Baptist church and lived a faithful member and true Christian until the end. She was a true and devoted wife and mother. To know her was to love her. She was kind and loving to her neighbors and friends of which there were many. She had been in failing health for a number of years, confined to her bed part of the time for a long time. All that loving hands and medical skill could do was done but to no avail. She leaves a husband, three sons and five daughters: Geo. Crews, Barney Crews, Montelle Crews, Mrs. Effie Garrett, Mrs. Estell Keltner, Mrs. Lady Sanders, Eloise and Lexie Crews; also two brothers, one sister and a host of relatives and friends. Interment was in Grace cemetery Sunday afternoon after funeral services conducted by Dr. R. R. McCulloch of Ripley. |
