Baunaltha DeWit (B.D.) Howerton<\/strong>, 85, of Tiptonville, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at Reelfoot Manor, where he was a patient. He was a retired carpenter.<\/p>\n Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lake Memorial Gardens, Tiptonville, near Reelfoot Lake, with the Rev. Ernest Mayo<\/strong>, pastor of Hornbeak Baptist Church, and the Rev. Ralph Buckley<\/strong>, pastor of Wynnburg Baptist Church officiating.<\/p>\n Pallbearers were Greg Williams, Craig Williams, Dennis Whitson<\/strong> and Jay Williams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Curry Funeral Home was in charge.<\/p>\n He was born March 21, 1917, in Phillippy, Lake County, to the late Safronia Belle Hayes Howerton<\/strong> and Baunaltha Calloway Howerton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n He married Annie L. Castlemann<\/strong> who survives.<\/p>\n He was a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church.<\/p>\n He leaves his wife, Annie Castleman Howerton<\/strong>, of Tiptonville; three sons, Donnie Howerton<\/strong> of Troy, Larry Howerton<\/strong> of Tiptonville and Richard Howerton<\/strong>, of Memphis; four sisters, Evelyn Girard<\/strong> of Michigan, Lois Mitchell<\/strong> of Troy, Betty Glidewell<\/strong> and Fay Williams<\/strong>, both of Tiptonville; three grandchildren, Nicole Howerton<\/strong> of Memphis, Whitney Howerton<\/strong> of Tiptonville and Dr. Kim Creassy<\/strong> of Savannah; one great-granddaughter, Grace Ann Creassy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Memorials are suggested to the Wynnburg Baptist Church Building Fund.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Obituary as printed in Lake County Banner Tiptonville, Tennessee, October 30, 2002 Baunaltha DeWit (B.D.)
