Tiptonville, Tennessee, October 30, 2002
Baunaltha DeWit (B.D.) Howerton, 85, of Tiptonville, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at Reelfoot Manor, where he was a patient. He was a retired carpenter.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lake Memorial Gardens, Tiptonville, near Reelfoot Lake, with the Rev. Ernest Mayo, pastor of Hornbeak Baptist Church, and the Rev. Ralph Buckley, pastor of Wynnburg Baptist Church officiating.
Pallbearers were Greg Williams, Craig Williams, Dennis Whitson and Jay Williams.
Curry Funeral Home was in charge.
He was born March 21, 1917, in Phillippy, Lake County, to the late Safronia Belle Hayes Howerton and Baunaltha Calloway Howerton.
He married Annie L. Castlemann who survives.
He was a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Annie Castleman Howerton, of Tiptonville; three sons, Donnie Howerton of Troy, Larry Howerton of Tiptonville and Richard Howerton, of Memphis; four sisters, Evelyn Girard of Michigan, Lois Mitchell of Troy, Betty Glidewell and Fay Williams, both of Tiptonville; three grandchildren, Nicole Howerton of Memphis, Whitney Howerton of Tiptonville and Dr. Kim Creassy of Savannah; one great-granddaughter, Grace Ann Creassy.
Memorials are suggested to the Wynnburg Baptist Church Building Fund.
