Hawkins Family*

A book on the history and genealogy of the Hawkins family in Jackson County, Tennessee and the surrounding area has recently been made available.

Echoes of Spring Creek...Jackson County, Tennessee contains some 5,400 individuals and chronicles the genealogy of the family of Joseph Hawkins, born 1765, who came from North Carolina to settle on Spring Creek in the early 1800's.

Harold Hawkins, now 72, a great, great, great, great grandson of Joseph Hawkins compiled the data for the book over his lifetime. Harold's daughter, Janice Lynn Hawkins Elrod, put the information in book form.

Not only Hawkins lines but also many extended family names are included in the book such as Lynn, Lee, Morgan, Loftis, Johnson and others. The book contains 140 pages of old photos, war records, deeds and other documents.

This 750-page book is available for $54. from Janice Hawkins Elrod, 112 Skylark Way, Durham, NC 27712.
