Born December 25, 1854, in Dickson County Tennessee. 1850 and 1860 census records show him living in Dickson County. It is reported (not proven) that he was a carpenter and built the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Slayden, Tennessee. He married <strong>Martha Elizabeth Waynick<\/strong> December 25, 1876.
