COOK Finds Bank Note (1869)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Bank Note Hid for Thirty-Four Years<\/b>. \u2013 A few days ago, <b>Mr. S.C. COOK<\/b> found between the ceiling and weather-boarding in the post office at Columbia, a letter bearing date, Mr. Pleasant, March 30, 1835, which contained a $2 bill on the branch Bank of the State of Alabama at Decatur.\u00a0 The letter was written by <b>H. HENDERSON<\/b> at Pulaski.\u00a0 The letter was still in the original wrapper, marked Pulaski, and the supposition is that Columbia being a distributing office, the package laid over for a night or two, and in the main time was spirited away by the rats to the place where found.\u00a0 The bank note is in an excellent state of preservation, in fact, looks nearly as good as new, but as that bank has been out of existence for some time past, the bill just now is of no particular value except as an old relic. \u2013 <i>Union &amp; American<\/i><\/p>\n<p><em>Source: Columbia Herald, 12 March 1869.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bank Note Hid for Thirty-Four Years. \u2013 A few days ago, Mr. S.C.
