(Rev.) &#8211; (d. 1882)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Greeneville, Tenn., May 24, 1882 &#8212;\u00a0Already the sad news has gone forth to the world that <strong>Rev. W.S. DOAK,<\/strong> State Superintendent of Public Instruction, is dead. \u00a0Yesterday morning, at 4 o&#8217;clock, at his home at Tusculum, death claimed him as his own, and tore him from the bosom of his family; from the affections of his friends, and from his position of usefulness. \u00a0As the sad news spread it filled every heart with sadness, and everyone said in feelings, if not in words, &#8220;Truly a good and useful man has fallen.&#8221; \u00a0This feeling is not confined to his more intimate friends and neighbors, but pervades the entire State.<\/p>\n<p>The following telegrams have been received by <strong>Miss Julia A. DOAK<\/strong>, from Nashville, show the esteem in which he was held at the State Capital: &#8212; Nashville, May 23, 1882.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The sad news of the death of your father has just reached me. \u00a0The State mourns the loss of a good man. \u00a0To the bereaved family I tender my most sincere sympathy. \u00a0&#8212; <strong>Alvin HAWKINS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;Accept the sympathies of one who loved him.&#8221; &#8212; <strong>A.W.
