The First Nine are: <strong>Jo. HARDWICK, Ed. TIPTON, John LEGG, Tom HAYES, John JOHNSTON,\u00a0Tom MONTGOMERY, Jo. CASH, John HARDWICK,<\/strong> and <strong>John COWAN<\/strong>. The \u201cPlug Uglies\u201d are: <strong>John RAMSEY,\u00a0Swartz BURGESS, John ROGERS, Charles NEWELL, Theo. ROGERS, Alex. MAPLES, Will CATE, Jeff.\u00a0MONTGOMERY<\/strong> and <strong>Polk COOPER.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They played to the seventh inning when the \u201cPlug Uglies\u201d were 15 ahead of the First Nine. They\u00a0commenced on the eighth inning, but darkness came and they had to quit, leaving the \u201cPlug Uglies\u201d only\u00a02 ahead \u2013 the First Nine being entitled to the last inning. Had the game been played out there would\u00a0have been no telling who would have gained the victory.<\/p>\n<p>The Athletics of this city and the Excelsiors of Chattanooga, will play a match game on Saturday,\u00a0Oct. 7th, in this place.
