Dr. John B. McFERRIN<\/strong>, at 2 o&#8217;clock yesterday afternoon, in his eighty-sixth year. \u00a0<strong>Mr. McGAVOCK<\/strong> was the last of his family. \u00a0His father removed, from Virginia to Tennessee, and settled at Nashville in 1796. \u00a0The deceased was a soldier in 1812, and was one of General JACKSON&#8217;s bodyguards in the Indian wars. \u00a0He wore three scars received in fights with Indians and carried to the day of his death several bullets received in these stiring days.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Source: Atlanta Constitution, 10 July 1877.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Death of a Pioneer Tennessean Nashville, July 8 &#8211; John McGAVOCK died at the residence of his son-in-law, Rev.
