{"id":1682,"date":"2014-04-19T22:00:48","date_gmt":"2014-04-20T03:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/histnews\/?p=1682"},"modified":"2014-04-19T22:01:14","modified_gmt":"2014-04-20T03:01:14","slug":"bolton-wade-1869","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/histnews\/bolton-wade-1869\/","title":{"rendered":"BOLTON, Wade H. &#8211; (d. 1869)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Death of Wade Bolton<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. Wade BOLTON<\/strong>, a well-known and wealthy citizen from the northern part of the county, who was shot by <strong>Dr. DICKENS<\/strong> in front of Court Square, on Wednesday morning, 13th instant, expired this morning at seven o&#8217;clock, at the residence of <strong>F.M. CASH<\/strong>, Esq., on Court street. \u00a0The ball entered the left shoulder just above the lung, and was never found, as <strong>Mr. BOLTON<\/strong> would not consent for the wound to be probed. \u00a0He lingered in great pain until the moment of his death, but was sensible almost to the last moment. \u00a0A\u00a0<em>post mortem<\/em> examination was held by <strong>Doctors LYNCH, RICE, and ROGERS<\/strong>, but the ball had not been found when our informant left the scene. \u00a0It had evidently passed through the shoulder and probably lodged against the spine. \u00a0Thus for the present rests one of the most remarkable family wars ever known in this country. <strong>\u00a0Dr. DICKENS<\/strong> was released soon after the shooting on the charge of shooting with intent to kill. \u00a0His bail was fixed at five thousand dollars.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Source: Public Ledger. 23 July 1869.
