Professor J.A. Metcalfe (1871)

Assisted by volunteer amateurs of the city and some of his graduated pupils, gave a most unique vocal and instrumental concert at the Institute Tuesday evening.  Those who were present pronounce the music, both vocal and instrumental, of the very best quality. It could scarce be otherwise, when so accomplished a musician as the Professor was in the lead.  In the course of the evening, President JONES and Dr. JACKSON varied the entertainment, by making neat, short addresses to the young ladies and the audience present.
