George M. Drake Nominated (1876)
The Republican Candidate for Congress
The Convention that met in this city on Tuesday – as will be seen elsewhere – nominated Mr. George M. DRAKE of Hamilton couty /sic/ for Congress. Mr. DRAKE is at present Editor of the Chattanooga Commercial. He is no professional politician – but a man fresh from the people. Though no regular politician, he is well posted as to the record of both parties. He is a good speaker, and will not be afraid to throw the record of the Democratic party in General DIBRELL’s face. As far as we have heard Mr. DRAKE’s nomination gives general satisfaction, and we pledge him a good majority in old Bradley.
