Elected Senator Denied Seat
The venerable Cave Johnson, Senator elect from the counties of Robertson, Montgomery and Stewart, and who was elected without opposition, to fill the vacancy occasioned by the death of Senator Peart, has been denied the right to take his seat. Mr. Johnson was born in the district which has just chosen him for its representative, in 1793, and has ever resided there. This is another piece of highhanded radicalism, and makes one more link to the long chain of wrongs and indignities, that have been heaped upon the citizens of this State by men who arrogate to themselves the right to exclude from our halls of representation every gentleman of known intelligence and honorable antecedents.
