DUSENBERRY, John (d. 1851)
Departed this life at his residence on Mulberry, January 8th 1851, John Dusenberry, aged 73 years and 13 days. Mr. Dusenberry was among the early settlers of this County, having emigrated here from the state of North Carolina in the year 1811. It may with propriety be said of the deceased, that he was kind and obliging—ever ready to bestow acts of kindness and charity when opportunity presented. In the relations of Husband, Father and Master, he was peculiarly kind, affectionate and forbearing; and none can so well appreciate his loss as those with whom he was best acquainted. He possessed a full share of public spirit; contributing to the building of Churches, Academies and Roads. He lived a life of usefulness and his latter days were exemplary. In his religious conversation, during his last illness, he expressed a willingness to die—thereby affording his friends and relatives the consolation that, “their loss was his eternal gain.” He left a wife and a large and respectable family of children to lament his loss. He was buried in the old Mulberry Church-yard by his many weeping neighbors, assisted by the President and Board of Directors of the Fayetteville and Mulberry Turnpike Company. Funeral serviced by Eld. J.W. Holman. “Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.”
