CATE, Johnny (d. 1871)

Died, in McMinn county, on the 24th inst., little Johnny CATE, son of John and Harriett CATE. He was almost four years old, and was a lovely little boy. His disease was croup. He lived some six days in suffering, and then passed away. Thus God has taken one of his litle lambs to his fold in heaven; thus they laid Johnny in the tomb. But before he was laid in the grave, news came to the father and mother that their married daughter, Permilia ROBBERTS, living some fifteen miles away from them, was dying. (Sometimes when we are herding our flocks we pick up the lambs and set them in the fold that the older may follow.) They hastened to their daughter, but failed to see her alive. Farewell, my dear, sweet Johnny, Thou art so soon from us driven; We mourn our loss, dear Johnny, But know thou art gone to heaven.
