RINHART, A.K. (Dr.) – (d. 1872)
Accident and Loss of Life — The Chattanooga Times, of Wednesday morning, says, on Monday evening Dr. A K RINHART, of Harrison, left home to visit a family by the name of FLYNN, living a mile and a half from the village. The Dr. had with him a double-barreled shot gun which he has been in the habit of carrying when out on professional duty. Yesterday morning he was found dead about a quarter of a mile from Harrison, on the road to FLYNN’s house. The gun had by some means been discharged, lodging the contents of one of the barrels in the left side, presumably causing instant death. The horse of Dr. R. was riding was of a restless, fractious disposition, and it is supposed that he became unmanageable and either threw his rider, thus in some manner discharging the piece, or that the hammer became entangled in the efforts of the rider to manage the horse, and was fired off with the fatal result as stated above, (page 3, col 2)
