Burglary Nets $200 (1968)
ROGERSVILLE—Rod ARMSTRONG and Co., one of Rogersville’s oldest stores, was burglarized sometime Sunday night. Hawkins County Sheriff Don ANDERSON said thieves apparently entered the store through a skylight window in the roof. A safe was torn open and an undetermined amount of money taken, “probably about $200,” the sheriff said.
The break-in was discovered Monday morning by A.J. HOYLE, a Rogersville plumber, who went to the store to do some repair work. Sheriff ANDERSON, along with TBI agent David SCRUGGS, is investigating the break-in.
