SINGLETON, William (d. 1872)
Shooting Affair — The Chattanooga Times of Tuesday morning says:
“William SINGLETON, a man engaged in the saw mill business at Shellmound, was shot at that place, yesterday, by T.J. JOHNSON, who is said to belong in Illinois. JOHNSON poured the content of three barrels into his body, two bullets piercing his chest and probably entering both lungs, the other passed into the upper part of the thigh. The wounded man was brought to the city yesterday evening and taken to the residence of Perry RANSOM, where he will receive all the necessary care his condition demands. JOHNSON has been arrested.”
We learn through a private source that SINGLETON died during Tuesday night.
