Davis\r\nPleasant Exchange, Tn.\r\n\r\n\r\nCarrel County, Black Hawk, Miss.\r\n20th October, 1838\r\n\r\nDear Brother,\r\nI received yours of which informed me that you all was partley well \r\nand that grandfather and and grandmother were dead, and that I must \r\ncome home to attend to [?] and you stated that I was interested but \r\nyou did not say now much.\r\n\r\nI cannot come now at present but will if good luck permits. \r\nI am well and harty and have a plenty of hard work to do and \r\nhave money in the bargin. I am improving a lot in Black Hawk. \r\nCorn is worth $2.00 bushal, cotton bad but the barley is good, \r\nand leave [?] and barley to the [? slave] and wort from $20 to $14 \r\nthe seson.\r\n\r\nIt has been dry especialey the later part of the sumer. \r\nThe morn ater stud at 103.
