Davis, \r\nUnion Parish Post Office, \r\nFarmerville, La.\r\n\r\nCaroll County, Tennessee\r\nFebruary 16th AD 1845\r\n\r\nDear Cozin,\r\n\r\nIt is with plesure that I take my pen in hand to write you a few \r\nlines to informe you that I am well at present. Hoping that these \r\nlines will find you injoying the same blesing. Our friends is well \r\nat presant.\r\n\r\nWhat is living thare? Is not much complant in the neighborhood at \r\nthis time. There has been great deal of sickness this sumer and fall. \r\nEdward Montgomery died the 17th day of March in the 1843. \r\n\r\nFather died the first day of January, 1845 so thare is two of the \r\nfamily died in 3 years next June. This part of the world don't soot \r\nus tho I hante had no sickness since I come here but as times is bad, \r\nI would like to leave this part and hunt som other home and I should \r\nlike to know what sort of a country yourn is, for I have some notion \r\nof that corse. You will write to me and send me the truth about your \r\npart of the world and send me the staple comodity of that country, tho \r\nyou wrote to David Y Davis that you were coming this fall. I hope that I \r\nshall see you if you will come. Perhaps I will go home with you and \r\nsome of the reste talks like tha would go too. So if you will come, \r\nyou will have company back shore for if non of the rest will com, \r\nI will be sertin to go, if I don't move thar. So come and see how your \r\nold aquantinces looks and your old play mates when children.\r\n\r\nIt has been 8 or 10 years since I saw you. You wodnent know me from \r\nsome old hunter. I would be glad to see you and your wife and children, \r\nto see if tha are pretty as you say tha are.\r\n\r\nI want you to write to me as soon as you get this leter and write \r\nwhither you intend to com or not in the fall. Tho you must be sertin \r\nto com, if you possable can.\r\n\r\nUnkle David is well and Aunt Jane and James, John, David, Sarah and \r\nall the children. Mother and her folks is well and so are the friends. \r\nSo I must bring my litle leter to a cloze. You must excuse my bad \r\nspelling and scratching.
