Doctor Mc[?] was the oritor of the day. \r\nOur little town of Buck Snort is yit young but improving fast. One \r\nstore, two grocerys, two tobacco factorys, one doctor shop and one \r\nblacksmith shop. The town is between Morses [?] and William \r\nMorgan's on the road.  I ought to have said David handed me this \r\nletter to fill out and mail. I carry the mail at this time. I carry from \r\nTippicanoe to Red Mound. Tippicanoe is in a half mile of my house.\r\nI must inform you of my second marriage.  I was married April \r\nthe 14th 1850 to the widow Hare. Her children are all married, \r\none before and other since she was.\r\n\r\nJohn Halabrook lives with me the present year and tend to my farm. \r\nI tend a patch and work in my shop. It is the driest I ever saw. \r\nThe ground hant been thourily wet since March. I finish plantin collards \r\nthe first day of this month with a half inch shour. The dust wold fly \r\nwhen plantin. The corn is made and cannot make one grain unless \r\nspeedy rain comes.  David Y. has rain and his corn is good. \r\n\r\nJohn B. had rain yesterday and so they had about [?] But here we \r\nare still dry.  James and Susan wishes to be remembered to you all \r\nand their children, Lucinda, Jane, Elizabeth, Sarah Ann and David James. \r\nAnd David is almost blind. He can't plow or hoe without damaging \r\nas much as benefits.  So I must stop.
