{"id":988,"date":"2014-01-30T16:24:12","date_gmt":"2014-01-29T23:48:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=988"},"modified":"2014-01-30T16:25:18","modified_gmt":"2014-01-30T21:25:18","slug":"green-william-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/green-william-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of William Green"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Book 2, Page 124<br \/>\nProven: November 3, 1873<\/p>\n<p>I, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">William Green<\/span> of the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee calling to mind that it is appointed unto man are to die and being of sound mind and memory and wishing to dispose of such worldly estates, as it has pleased God to bless me with, do hereby make and ordain and publish this my last will and testament in the word and figures following to wit:<\/p>\n<p>Item 1st &#8211; I direct that all my just debts and my funeral expenses be paid out of any moneys that may first come into the hands of my Executors.<\/p>\n<p>Item 2nd &#8211; To my wife <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rutha<\/span> I give and bequeath my plantation on which I now live and all my personal property of whatever description of which I may die seized of ___ for and during her natural life or widowhood.<\/p>\n<p>Item 3rd &#8211; At the death or marriage of my wife <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rutha<\/span> I direct that all the property herein placed in the hands of my said wife, shall be equally divided between my children viz: <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Polly Cantwell<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Nancy Wolfe<\/span>, the heirs of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elizabeth Brewer<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Minerva Pearson<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Jeremiah Green<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Patsy Murrel<\/span>, the heirs of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John A. Green<\/span>, deceased, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Orpha Clonce<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rutha Wolfe<\/span>, should said heirs above named, agree, may divide the property without sale, otherwise said property shall be divided between my said heirs above mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>The name of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Emeline Greene<\/span> was struck out by my direction <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Sterling Green<\/span> being indebted to me by note to at least the worth of his natural share in my estate, which said note is for five hundred and fifty dollars, due at our ___ dated January 15th 1861, credited August 17th 1865 with $120.00 and all interest up to said date.<\/p>\n<p>Item 4th &#8211; To <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Emeline Green<\/span> and her heirs, I give and bequeath said note above described in lieu of all their interest, as heirs in my estate, both personal and real.<\/p>\n<p>Item 5th &#8211; I hereby appoint my trusty friends <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elbert Day<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Nicholas Wolfe<\/span> Executors of this my last will and testament.<\/p>\n<p>Signed Sealed and dated this 2nd day of May in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventy three.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">William<\/span> [<span style=\"font-style: italic\">X<\/span>] <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Green<\/span> (Seal) (his mark)<\/p>\n<p>Witness:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">S.
