{"id":960,"date":"2014-01-30T01:46:55","date_gmt":"2014-01-29T23:48:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=960"},"modified":"2014-01-30T01:48:46","modified_gmt":"2014-01-30T06:48:46","slug":"armstrong-john-1861-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/armstrong-john-1861-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of John Armstrong (written 1861)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Book 2, Page 13<\/p>\n<p>(blank spaces indicate unreadable words or letters)<\/p>\n<p>I <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John Armstrong<\/span> do make and publish this as my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made heretofore.<\/p>\n<p>First I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any moneys that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my executor.<\/p>\n<p>Second I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Darky Jane Murry<\/span> five dollars for which I have previously heretofore provided for.<\/p>\n<p>Thirdly I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Mary Harris<\/span> thirty dollars for which I have previously heretofore provided for.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth I gave and bequeath to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">James Armstrong<\/span> or his heirs one dollar for which I have previously heretofore provided for.<\/p>\n<p>Fifth I will and bequeath to the heirs of my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Milley ___<\/span> eighty dollars for which I have previously heretofore provided for.<\/p>\n<p>Sixth I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Tabitha Staples<\/span> eighty five dollars for which I have previously provided for.<\/p>\n<p>Seventh I give and bequeath to my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Eliza Armstrong<\/span> a bedstead and furniture and eighty five dollars in cash.<\/p>\n<p>Eighth I give and bequeath to daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Susanah Armstrong<\/span> one bedstead and furniture and eight five dollars in cash.<\/p>\n<p>Ninth I give and bequeath to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Wiley Armstong<\/span> fifty acres of my land estate off of the upper end of my land including my dwelling house and out houses and one bedstead and furniture.<\/p>\n<p>Tenth I give and bequeath to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John Armstrong<\/span> fifty acres of my land estate lying next to the part that I gave my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Wiley<\/span> and one bedstead and furniture.<\/p>\n<p>Eleventh I give and bequeath to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Clinton Armstrong<\/span> the remainder of my land if any there be.<\/p>\n<p>Twelfth I will and bequeath that my slave <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Sida<\/span> shall be sold together with my other personal property.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Thomas A. Long<\/span> my executor in witness whereof I do to this my last will set my hand and seal this 23 day of February 1861.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John Armstong<\/span> (seal)<\/p>\n<p>Signed, sealed and published in our presence and we have subscribed our names hereto in the presence of the testator February 22, 1861<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">David Lyons Jr.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> Thomas A.
