{"id":948,"date":"2014-01-30T01:34:25","date_gmt":"2014-01-29T23:48:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=948"},"modified":"2014-01-30T01:35:20","modified_gmt":"2014-01-30T06:35:20","slug":"long-jonathan-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/long-jonathan-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of Jonathan Long"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Book 2, Pages 5-6<\/p>\n<p>I <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Jonathan Long<\/span> do make and publish this as my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made.<\/p>\n<p>First &#8211; I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any monies that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my executor.<\/p>\n<p>Secondly &#8211; I will and bequeath unto my wife <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Lucy Long<\/span> all real estate and all personal property after the debts are paid so long as her natural life exists or she remains my widow.<\/p>\n<p>Third &#8211; I will and bequeath unto my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John N. Long<\/span> and my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Hugh R. Long<\/span> all the said real estate existing at my death if both living and if one is not living which ever is living at the time of my decease and at the death of my widow or at her marriage all the personal property existing then shall belong to the said <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John N. Long<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Hugh R. Long<\/span> by them paying one hundred Dollars equal to each lawful heir then living viz: &#8211; <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elizabeth<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Nancy Margarett<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">David Clinton<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Susannah Catharine<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Isabella<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Orlena<\/span> all those six children shall have the said hundred Dollars each if living at the time of my death or marriage of my widow.<\/p>\n<p>Fourthly &#8211; I want <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John K. Beckner<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Edward Walker<\/span> if living at my decease or marriage of my widow (or either of them by choosing an additional friend) to lay off equally according to valuation my real estate between the said <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John N. Long<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Hugh R. Long<\/span> for so as to avoid all other contingent expenses and<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John N. Long<\/span> my Executor.<\/p>\n<p>In witness whereof I do to this my will set my hand and seal This 6th day of Oct. 1855.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Jonathan Long<\/span> (seal)<\/p>\n<p>Signed, seal and published in our presence and subscribed our name hereto in the presence of the testator This 6th day of Oct. 1855.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John K.
