{"id":930,"date":"2014-01-30T01:06:53","date_gmt":"2014-01-29T23:48:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=930"},"modified":"2014-01-30T01:08:05","modified_gmt":"2014-01-30T06:08:05","slug":"mays-william-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/mays-william-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of William Mays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Book 2, Page 47<\/p>\n<p>(blank spaces indicate unreadable words or letters)<\/p>\n<p>I <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">William Mays<\/span> of the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee, being of sound mind and disposing memory do publish and ordain this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made and as to such worldly estate, is it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with, I dispose of in the following manner, to wit:<\/p>\n<p>1st &#8211; Whereas I have heretofore conveyed the trust of land that I now live on to my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Samuel Mays<\/span>, and in that I have given him his entire interest in my estate, both real and personal and also have him bound for a decent and comfortable support for my beloved wife <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">_roshia Mays<\/span> consequently both <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Samuel<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">_roshia Mays<\/span> is not further mentioned in this will.<\/p>\n<p>2nd &#8211; I wish and direct that my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rebecca Stubblefield<\/span> live and remain on the tract of land she now lives on known at the <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">McAnally<\/span> farm, during life or widowhood to manage and use for ___ use and benefit, at her death or in the event she should marry, then and in that case the land to be sold as herein after directed with my landed estate.<\/p>\n<p>3rd. I wish and direct that all my landed estate be sold by my executors on the premises I now live on,<\/p>\n<p>4th &#8211; I wish that my personal property be sold on a credit of twelve months.<\/p>\n<p>5th &#8211; My daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Mary Miller<\/span>, and my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Sary Rayl<\/span>, my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Beverly Mays<\/span> and my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Madison Mays<\/span> each of them has had their proportional part.<\/p>\n<p>6th &#8211; I will that my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Richard Mays<\/span> have fifty dollars out of my monied estate as his part.<\/p>\n<p>7th &#8211; I will that my grand daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Viana Moore<\/span> have fifty dollars out of my monied estate.<\/p>\n<p>8th &#8211; I will that my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elizabeth Moore<\/span>, my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rebecca Stubblefield<\/span>, my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Cornilia McAnally<\/span> and my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">William Mays<\/span> and my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Leander Mays<\/span> have the residue of my estate, after all my just debts are paid and the necessary expenses are paid equally and this equally to be made by my day book as it shows what each one of them has had heretofore from me.<\/p>\n<p>9th &#8211; I will further that portion of my estate that my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">William Mays<\/span> fall heir to by this will go to his son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Pleasant Mays<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Ado___ Mays<\/span> and this portion of my estate be kept in the hands of my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Samuel Mays<\/span> for their use can to be paid over to them at the discretion of my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Samuel Mays<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>10th &#8211; Lastly I appoint <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Samuel Mays<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Hughes W.
