This novel relates the dreams, heartaches, and romance revealed in a young girl\u2019s diary.\u00a0 It is a fascinating true story about Nannie Kinkead Etter<\/strong>, the author\u2019s grandmother, who lived those tender years during the Civil War era.\u00a0 The story, spanning the years 1855-1867, describes Nannie’s life at home in Hawkins County, Tennessee, and at school in Asheville, North Carolina.<\/p>\n

Margaret Lyons Smith<\/strong> graduated in speech and drama from King’s School, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1920.\u00a0 Later she taught these arts at the high schools of Hawkins County in Tennessee.\u00a0 She was also a proofreader at the Kingsport Press, Inc., in Kingsport, Tennessee for many years.<\/p>\n
