In the name of God, Amen.<\/p>\n
I John Cox<\/strong> of the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee, being sick and weak, but of sound, disposing mind and memory, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament, in the manner and form as followeth, viz:<\/p>\n Item. I give unto my lawful wife Tibitha Cox<\/strong> all my land and mill & all my negroes excepting one named Mille<\/b>, likewise all my stock excepting one horse colt. Likewise, all my household furniture and working tools during her widowhood.<\/p>\n I will and bequeath unto my son Thomas<\/b> one young horse colt,<\/p>\n and I likewise bequeath unto my daughter Ellice Cox<\/b> one negro girl named Mille<\/b>, to her and her body heirs forever, and all her increase.<\/p>\n Likewise, the said Thomas Cox<\/b> and Ellice Cox<\/b> is to have an equal share with the rest hereafter.<\/p>\n It is my will and request that my brother Edward Cox <\/b>should take the remainder of the goods and to settle my accounts below as far as the(y) will pay, and if there should not be as much as would satisfy the debts, the said Edward Cox<\/b> should have power to settle the books as far as to pay the amount.<\/p>\n And finally, I do acknowledge this to be my last will and revoking all others.<\/p>\n Witnesseth my hand and seal This 25th day of August, 1798.<\/p>\n John Cox<\/b> (seal)<\/p>\n Witness present:<\/p>\n Samuel Vernon This Hawkins County Will was transcribed by one of the following volunteers:\u00a0 Audrae Mathis; Gary Fletcher; Betty Mize; Diana Arney; Karen Negron, Kathey Welder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Will Book ___, Page 82 In the name of God, Amen.
