{"id":1889,"date":"2014-03-11T15:15:02","date_gmt":"2014-03-11T19:15:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=1889"},"modified":"2014-03-11T15:15:02","modified_gmt":"2014-03-11T19:15:02","slug":"rogers-emiline-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/rogers-emiline-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of Emiline Rogers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Will Book ___, Page 428<br \/> Proven in Part Aug. &amp; Sept, 1857<br \/> (Rec&#8217;d p. 67 and p. 81)<\/p>\n<p> I, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Emiline Rogers<\/span> of the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time made.<\/p>\n<p> First. I direct that my body be decently interred at <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Robert Rogers<\/span>&#8216; in said county in a manner suitable to my condition in life and that my funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of any money that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my Executor from any portion of my Estate, real or personal.<\/p>\n<p> Secondly. I give and bequeath to my only son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Anderson C. Rogers<\/span> the remainder of all my Estate real or personal consisting of notes and receipts and one rone mare, a quantity of sheep with household and kitchen furniture.<\/p>\n<p>My wish and desire is that all my Estate shall be sold, every part thereof on a credit of twelve months, and the money loaned at interest and that my Executors renew the notes every twelve months for the benefit of my only son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Anderson C. Rogers<\/span> who was born the 25th day of May, 1851.<\/p>\n<p> Thirdly. It is my will and desire that my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Anderson C. Rogers<\/span> remain and live with my mother until he is 21 years old provided she lives until that time,<\/p>\n<p>and if she should die before my son arrives at the age of 21, I want my son to live with <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Prurlee Pearson<\/span> provided he <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Prurlee<\/span> has a home and is settled,<\/p>\n<p>and if he has not a home, I want my son to live with my sister <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Catherine Burton<\/span>, if she has a home.<\/p>\n<p>If not with <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Matison Cope<\/span> and his wife <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Jane<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p> Fourthly. It is my wish and desire for <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John H. Pearson<\/span> to be Guardian of my son until <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Prurlee Pearson<\/span> arrives at the age of 21 years, then my wish is that <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Prurlee Pearson<\/span> be appointed Guardian in place of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John H. Pearson<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p> Fifthly. It is my wish and desire in case my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Anderson C. Rogers<\/span> should die before he arrives at the age of 21 years, that my beloved mother <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Elizabeth Pearson<\/span>, if living, shall have my entire Estate,<\/p>\n<p>and if she is not living, then to be equally divided between my brothers and sisters that may be living.<\/p>\n<p> And, lastly, I appoint my friend <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">John H. Pearson<\/span> my Executor of this my last Will and Testament.<\/p>\n<p> In testimony whereof I, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Emaline Rogers<\/span> have set my hand and seal This 8th day of November, 1856.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold\"> Emeline Rogers<\/p>\n<p> Attest:<\/p>\n<p> <b>John Starnes<br \/> Wm.
