{"id":1887,"date":"2014-03-11T15:13:35","date_gmt":"2014-03-11T19:13:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/?p=1887"},"modified":"2014-03-11T15:13:35","modified_gmt":"2014-03-11T19:13:35","slug":"rogers-george-senior-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/hawkins\/rogers-george-senior-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Will of George Rogers, Senior"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Will Book ___, Page 427<br \/> Proven: July Term, 1853<\/p>\n<p> In the Name of God, Amen.<\/p>\n<p> I <b style=\"font-weight: bold\">George Rogers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">, Sen.<\/span> being called to mind the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death and now of being of sound mind and disposing memory, I now make this my last Will and Testament, to wit:<\/p>\n<p> First. I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of any moneys that I may die seized and possessed of.<\/p>\n<p>Should I not have on hand money enough to pay and satisfy the above mentioned expenses, then I direct my Executor to first collect my debts and if there is not enough to pay my just debts, I desire that my Executor sell enough of the personal property that will come into his hands hereafter to the remainder if there should be any.<\/p>\n<p> Secondly. I will it and it is my will that my negro man <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Peter<\/span> be free at my death.<\/p>\n<p> Thirdly. I will it and it is my will that my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Robert Rogers<\/span> have all my personal property at my death, to wit: Three head of horses and their increase and about eleven head of cattle and their increase and some sheep and thirty five or forty head of stock hogs and their increase, and all the other personal property that I may die seized or possessed of or may come into my hands hereafter.<\/p>\n<p> Fourthly. I will and it is my will that my daughter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Manila<\/span>, wife of <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Pleasant Bigley<\/span>, have one good feather bed and furniture.<\/p>\n<p> Fifth and lastly. I do hereby appoint my son <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Robert Rogers<\/span> Executor of my last Will and Testament.<\/p>\n<p> In witness whereof I do to this my last will set my hand and seal. This the twenty third of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">George<\/span> [<span style=\"font-style: italic\">X<\/span>] <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Rogers<\/span> (seal) (his mark)<\/p>\n<p>Signed and sealed in our presence and we have subscribed our names hereunto in the presence of the Testator This 23rd March, 1853.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses:<\/p>\n<p> <b>Samuel Amyx<br \/> F.
