Term, 1842<\/p>\n<p> In the Name of God, Amen.<\/p>\n<p> I, <b>Thomas Roberts<\/b> of Hawkins County, the State of Tennessee, being of bad health but of sound mind, I make this my last Will &amp; Testament in words following, to wit:<\/p>\n<p>I will and bequeath to my beloved wife <b>Matilda Roberts<\/b> during her lifetime or widowhood, the plantation where I now live, to have all profits arising from the same.<\/p>\n<p>Also, all my personal property of all kinds out doors and in the house, not to be sold nor squandered by any person with the exception of some things hereafter mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>I will and bequeath to my son <b>James Roberts<\/b> one sorrel filly the one that he claims, also one rifle gun.<\/p>\n<p>And at my death to a saddle and bridle and martins gills [<span style=\"font-style: italic\">sic<\/span>] and my great coat.<\/p>\n<p>I will and bequeath to my daughter <b>Elizabeth<\/b> one bed and furniture and one cow.<\/p>\n<p>And I also upon the condition that <b>William Pety<\/b> lives here till he is 21, he is to have a colt worth $20.00 or $25.00.<\/p>\n<p>And I will that at the death of my wife that <b>Mary Mooney<\/b> have $10.00 worth of property.<\/p>\n<p>The heirs of <b>Theoffolous Roberts<\/b> to have $10.00 worth of property,<\/p>\n<p> <b>William Roberts<\/b> $10.00 worth of property.<\/p>\n<p> <b>Tomson Roberts<\/b> to have $10.00 worth of property.<\/p>\n<p> <b>Nathaniel Roberts<\/b> to have $10.00 worth of property,<\/p>\n<p> and <b>Wiley Roberts<\/b> to have $10.00 worth of property,<\/p>\n<p>and I also will if my daughter <b>Elizabeth<\/b> and my son <b>James<\/b> lives with and takes care of me and my wife during our lifetime, then at our death <b>James<\/b> is to have all my farming tools and all the balance of my and all the personal property to be divided equally between the said <b>Elizabeth<\/b> &amp; <b>James Roberts<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p> Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affix my seal.
