In the Name of God, Amen.<\/p>\n
I Michael Roark<\/b> of the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee, being somewhat weak of body but of sound mind and memory, and knowing the uncertainty of life, do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner following, to wit:<\/p>\n
Item 1st. I bequeath to my son James Rork<\/span> one dollar and no more.<\/p>\n item 2nd. To my daughter Sally Combs<\/span> who intermarried with Elijah Combs<\/span> I bequeath one dollar and no more.<\/p>\n Item 3rd. To my son Michael Rork<\/span> I bequeath one dollar and no more.<\/p>\n Item 4th. To my daughter Rebecca Tunnel<\/span> who intermarried with William Tunnel<\/span>, I bequeath one dollar and no more.<\/p>\n Item 5th. To my daughter Betsy<\/span> who intermarried with Thomas Self<\/span>, I bequeath one dollar and no more.<\/p>\n Item 6th. To my daughter Sally Reynolds<\/span> who intermarried with George Reynolds<\/span>, I bequeath one dollar and no more.<\/p>\n Item 7th. To my daughter Julia Kirkpatrick<\/span> who intermarried with John Kirkpatrick<\/span>, I bequeath one dollar and no more.<\/p>\n Item 8th. To my daughter Polly Morrisett<\/span> who intermarried with George Morrisett<\/span>, I bequeath one dollar and no more.<\/p>\n And it is my wish and desire that she remain on the plantation on which I now reside as long as I or my wife survive should she choose so to do.<\/p>\n Item 9th. It is my wish and I so will it that my wife — should she survive me — is to remain on my plantations use and enjoy it as long as she lives.<\/p>\n Item 10th. To my well beloved grandson James Rork<\/span> (son of John Rork<\/span>), I will and bequeath the tract or parcel of land on which I now reside, to him and his heirs forever, but he is not to have possession until the death of myself and wife — reserving the use of it for our maintenance.<\/p>\n Also, I bequeath to him all my personal effects of every description, subject to the payment of my just debts.<\/p>\n Item 11th. To my well beloved son John Rork<\/span>, I bequeath four shares of the tract of land I bought of the heirs of Charles Campbell<\/span> joining the tract I live on and containing about 150 acres.<\/p>\n Item 12th. I do hereby appoint my well-beloved son John<\/span> and my beloved grandson James Rork<\/span> my Executors to this my last Will & Testament, and I wish them to qualify and enter upon their duties without giving bond and security, in believing that they will faithfully perform the trust hereby posed on them.<\/p>\n I hereby commit my soul unto the hands of a merciful God before whom I must shortly appear.<\/p>\n In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal This 25th day of August, 1834.<\/p>\n Michael Rork<\/p>\n Signed, sealed delivered & published as the last Will & Testament of Michael Roark<\/span> in our presence date above.<\/p>\n D Alexander This Hawkins County Will was transcribed by one of the following volunteers: Audrae Mathis; Gary Fletcher; Betty Mize; Diana Arney; Karen Negron, Kathey Welder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Will Book ___, Page 422 Proven: Feb. 4, 1839 In the Name of God, Amen.
